When I look at the various articles and comments in the Teaching Professor collection, group work continues to be a regular topic. It’s proved itself an instructional method of equal parts possibilities and problems. When the group project goes poorly, the content is compromised, and students turn their backs on group work.

We put all students in the same learning environment and expect that one learning environment will lead to the same outcome for all students. I wonder sometimes if the work we see students submit that maybe isn’t as awesome as we’d like, if it’s because of the way we’ve set up the learning environment.
