Many students decide they’re not a ‘math person’ by the end of elementary school, new study shows

Heather Schwartz, a RAND researcher and the primary investigator of the study, noted that the middle and high school years are when students end up on advanced or regular math tracks. A majority of those students identified that way as early as elementary school. It used survey responses of 434 students in grades 5-12.
