Students can keep a long-term journal to respond all year long, or they can use journal prompts as a springboard into a class essay or assignment. In your opinion, what sport gets too much attention? Just like we can teach a five-paragraph essay, we can teach students to write a great LinkedIn profile, interview in a way that lets them shine, and communicate professionally. This in turn enables them to get in the door and get the attention from hiring managers they deserve.

There was a student who introduced himself having written a critical essay about the narrative of grit. When he sent me that essay, of course, I wanted to know more. I really don't think it's fair for me to, or anyone else to expect teachers to implement ideas from watching a TED Talk and reading a book.
